Trashed is a 2012 environmental documentary narrated by actor Jeremy Irons that investigates the global waste crisis by traveling to polluted locations across Lebanon, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Iceland, France, and the North Pacific. The film examines how billions of plastic bags, hundreds of billions of water bottles, and billions of tons of household waste are disposed of each year, showcasing devastating consequences including the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, contaminated water supplies, and health impacts on communities. Critically examining waste incineration and landfills as unsustainable solutions, the documentary ultimately offers hope by highlighting zero-waste alternatives and grassroots organizations making positive change, emphasizing that both individual consumer choices and systemic policy reforms are essential to addressing our planet's waste problem.
