CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: The Zero Waste Challenge for High Schoolers is an amazing opportunity for high school students to learn about the many different ways that they can incorporate sustainability into their daily lives. Students from any high school are encouraged and invited to join. Participants are encouraged to produce as little waste as possible during the challenge in an effort to “live zero waste.” During the challenge, participants will receive texts and emails throughout the day with tips on how they can reduce their waste and protect the planet. After the challenge, participants will be asked to reflect on their experience and will also be equipped with different resources and strategies that they can implement to continue living a sustainable lifestyle and engage with systemic change.
All participating Ann Arbor-area students will also be given a chance to win prizes from local sustainable businesses: Washtenaw Dairy, RoosRoast Coffee, Detroit Street Filling Station, Argus Farm Stop and Found.
